I've never grown an apple tree in a pot. How does it do and what kind of apple is it?

I’m glad your weather is milder at least. I’m looking forward to the weekend weather. Pretty crappy and cold today. Just went back and looked at your pastels. They’re cheerful and brought a smile.

It's a White Icicle Columnar Apple Tree. It will grow straight up, the central leader was cut so these three will create a trine. This is it's second summer and I'm hopeful the bees were busy and it's been pollinated. When Kenn died I planted two apple trees that would both flower at the same time and produce fruit in autumn at the anniversary of his death.
This one I put in a pot because the future was uncertain and if I needed to leave I could take it with me. It would likely do far better in the ground if fruiting was the goal. The other is a semi dwarf fuji with pink blossoms.

    Thank you, Rose.
The undertow and sneaker waves of grief get the best of me but I'm alright, quiet I suppose.
We just passed our anniversary and his birthday is ahead. May was a busy month.

    Dear Joy and fellow travelers,

Those are those bittersweet times, as Deb often says. Is it wrong to think that bittersweet is a powerful and important thing? My experiences have been that bittersweet combines the pain and the memories of great joy that result in the grief of loss. I may not be making sense, but I have no regrets in my memories of love. I just greedily wanted more. So that’s why I’m here. We didn’t get enough time. There never can be enough time. So our hearts break. And we’re here seeking a salve for our broken hearts .

Thank you for sharing your art and the grief that may have inspired your art. I’m one of those people here who struggles a bit every day with the grief that has its grips on my heart and on my life. This journey isn’t and never will be easy. But at the very least, here in this place I know that I have the love of my fellow travelers! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Hello fellow travelers: it’s storming here in Minnesota. I’m awake, listening to the thunder. The rain on the roof disturbs sleep for me and my two cats. Their names are Charlie and Darwin. I’m grateful for the rain, because drought is so punishing. We’ve had a few years of drought here. I’m also keenly aware at this moment that I have two loving beings beside me: fellow travelers who, while not human, share and understand the experience and the journey of life. They held Steve, too, during his final breaths. They were there as we reminded him over and over and over that he was loved as he drew his final breaths. They do not leave me, yet eventually they will unavoidably return to the universe, just as Steve has done. But, for now, here we are. We struggle through all of life’s perils, obstacles and perplexities together. Is there anything more profound or more precious than this? Peace to each of you. And hugs and gratitude for listening to a lonely old lady, as my dear students remind me daily. Comfort, as well. ❤️

Hi Deborah, sorry to hear you had your sleep disturbed by that horrid storm. Glad to hear though, that you have your lovely pets to comfort you. Unlike you, we really don't need anymore rain here, it's practically been raining every day since Easter, more or less. I can't get anything done outside on our property, so much weeding to do, pruning, cutting wood, grass cutting, etc. Our climate has gone mad, where have our warm, sunny Springs gone to? My cherry trees should be full of bright red fruits, but there's no sign of life:(.! This rainy weather doesn't help our moods, either, does it? I used to complain about dreary, dull, grey London, but I have to go back on my words.

    Wishing everyone a good day.

    Rose

Thanks a lot for liking my art, that it's something that I'll continue, when weather permits I go for long walks and get motivated to draw as time passes fast. For me it's also a type of meditation every line or dot its just a line or dot that will be my drawing. Too bad one never knows if the weather is consistent, we have to put up whatever nature has for us day by day.

Here is a bush of pink azaleas in my back yard. All love and many hugs to all my GIC.
