So lost

Lou, good morning. I don't have a name for my kitty yet. Not sure why you mentioned I named her Hobby. But, that's a consideration. My brain is in freeze mode as far as choosing a name. Nothing hits me and everyone is asking what is her name and it's time to name her. It's only been 2 weeks since I got her I tell them.

 

Lou, I get it now. I think it was Rose who suggested a hobby for me. That's where you thought I named her Hobby.

 

Hello Karen. How about Zelda for your kitten’s name? It is a warrior name like Rambo and was used as both male and female names in mythology.

suggestion of Zelda. 2 syllables work

Karen I love how everyone has come together to give you ideas to name your kitten. I remember how much you love pine trees and it made me think of the name of a nature preserve I used to be a steward at. It’s name was Lonidaw which meant Spirit Queen of the Forest. Gary

The heat & humidity, plus foggy
widower's brain , made me think it was
another male cat. Lou

 

I wanted a male, but got a female. Hobby is cute I agree.

 

Karen, tears rolled down my cheeks today.
when I read the obituary of Olivia
Newton-John, at my age of 73. She had
been battling breast cancer for 30 years,
and set up a trust to help others. When I
read that her cancer spread to her back,
and she was in a lot of pain, I thought of
poor Linda in both the hospital and in the
rehab unit of a nursing home, for PT to
help her walk. As you know, Linda died
suddenly of a pulmonary embolism, right
in front of me. Her favorite nurse, about
her age of 68, said that had Linda lived,
she would've suffered in pain, endured
COVID ( and I would not have been able to
visit), and an uncertain future. However
I look at it, it SUCKS BIG TIME, to quote our
friend, Deb, who's currently MIA. Mr. G
kicked me in the balls today, and I'm
doubled over in emotional pain. I needed to reach out to you, Karen, the inventor of
Mr. Grief. Life goes on, and I'm going to
an outdoor rock band concert at the
American Legion bandstand tonight. I
will seek serenity when I look at the
sunset over the ocean across the street.

Oh Lou, I didn't know Olivia passed. Something like this brings back all the horrid memories of what Linda went through. It's impossible to delete the memories.
When I hear about someone dying of Sarcoma cancer all the pain, doctor visits, radiation, medicine Jack took all for nothing, the cancer spread from his hip to his neck just before they were to do surgery to remove the tumor.

If Linda had lived her life would have been nothing, living in a facility in constant pain. What kind of life is that? I say, if I was in any constant pain just shoot me.

I'm glad you are going to a concert tonight, you are truckin on and you have come a long way. Mr. Grief softens for you at times and that means a lot. K

soda & hot dogs , sold by my veteran
pals. They are mostly Vietnam vets, and
rag on me all the time, but I give it back.
After the summer concerts, the Legion will
resume the open house coffee. I'm the only
non veteran. They call me Lou Gehrig.
They respect me, bc they know I had PTSD
like they did, but seeing my wife die,
instead of seeing a buddy die, or being
wounded in battle. One friend, married
over 50 yrs, sits with me every Sat am in
the other seasons. He still has occasional
nightmares that the Viet Cong are
chasing him up main street. I told him I
can't imagine that. Lou

 

Having friends who know loss is very precious. Having nightmares is so awful for the Vets and I guess they live with it always.

 

Yes, my friend who has nightmares, was
shot in the legs in Vietnam, and has
trouble walking, at 75, but rides a bike
around town. He has a warm wife, a
mischievous smile, and like many in my
seaside town, looks younger than he is. L

 

That sea air keeps one young.

 

Yes, and a positive attitude and love of
people, like my role model, a 98 year
old widow, who doesn't dwell in the past. L
