Janet and I lived alone together in a remote cabin in thick woods that I built forty years ago on a three-acre lake carved out from a deep ravine. She was an artist, a ceramics sculptress, a free spirit, and my life. Her most treasured painting is of the cabin from the vantage point at the tip of a small peninsula jutting out into the lake where her gravestone and ashes lie. Knowing her days were few, her last work was this poem entitled "Safe in Your Heart".

Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
My spirit lives on with no tearful goodbye.
I am the gusts of wind that blow.
I am the flight of birds to and fro.
I am the diamonds on the ripples below.
I am the colors of the sunset's glow.
I am the dazzle of the night's starry show.
I am the sounds of nature's hello.
I am safe in your heart and that comforts me so.
And when some day it is your time to go,
Come into my arms at the place we both know.

Jeffry, I am so sorry for the loss of your soulmate, you're in the right place here, you can share your feelings with us. We can totally relate to the pain you are going through, you are not alone. May I add that your Janet's poem is so moving and beautifully written, it must be a comfort for you having these words to cherish,together with your precious memories with her.
