Carla, you paint a very real picture of your
life in Maine. Your cat sounds loving and
    amusing, so welcome, during your
mourning for Ned. I've been tired lately
from the tilt-a-whirl emotions of grief:
sorrow, anger, regret, and guilt. I wrestle
with the fact, 3 & a half years later, that
    Linda is never coming back--physically---
but will be in my heart forever, until I
die, and my spirit reunites with Linda's.
Glad I woke up (crashed super early), and
saw that you're still with us on GIC.
Perhaps you can attach a "LIKE" to our
posts, so we know you're still here. Thank
    you. Lou

I am here, just a working person and getting busy in the garden... I hear you on Linda and your 3 1/2 years. I miss Ned just as much 16 moons later, feels like yesterday. Like other "younger" folks who have lost our soulmate, staring down a road that will likely be another 30 years until I can join him is daunting. Every day feels surreal and drab, no matter what beauty and great people I have around. I look forward to bedtime now - sleeping always felt like a chore to me. But now it is when I see him. The other night's dream visit was nice and long, we talked and talked. I don't recall much detail, but something about how we can still ask each other for help. Those dream visits, meditation and swimming have been key to my mental health. What has kept you going since your Linda "changed residence?"

Bill, are you the Songman? If so, I met you way back a year and half ago. You were one of the first people I was acquainted with and loved your music. My name is Karen go by CJPines.

Karen, yes he is. I joined about the last
time I saw him on here. I looked at his
    info, & he's quite a musician, who's
worked with the greats. Deb said he was
one of the first people she met on GIC. Lou

Carla, thanks for asking. I go to places
I never went with Linda, bc they didn't
exist when she was alive. I love to go
to hear live bands, where a married
friend, my age, plays the drums , in our
local cafe. The astonishing thing is that
Linda never knew my friends. I sometimes
feel guilty that I'm enjoying myself, and
she's not here physically to join me. I
quote her funny phrases to my friends,
to keep her spirit alive. I raised a glass
    ( I don't drink anymore bc I got MORE
depressed) , to Linda, at a bar, as a sort of
impromptu celebration of life. I could
feel Linda smiling at me. I'm glad you
have good dreams about Ned. My
dreams about Linda were too sad, & I'd
wake up crying. I'm glad I don't have
those dreams now. I'd rather talk about her
    with my friends. Lou

I just came across these two poems by J. M. Green.

    Words seem so feeble,
    in moments like these.
    Life is so precious,
    and death such a thief.
    The death of your pain
    I cannot comprehend,
    but I'll stand alongside you
    in darkness, my friend.
    Love is a bond
    that death cannot part,
    Gone from your arms,
but still held in your heart.

    All is not lost
    when your heart
    has been shattered.
    All is not lost
    when you feel so alone.
    All is not lost
when your hope lies in tatters.
    This darkness will pass
    keep watching for dawn.

Hope everybody's having a peaceful day.

I'm not so sure if I posted this before but just in case....

    I thought of you today
    but is nothing new,
    I thought about you yesterday
    and days before that too.
I think of you in silence
    I often speak your name,
    All I have are memories
and your picture in a frame
    Your memory is my keepsake
    with which I'll never past,
God has you in His keeping
I have you in my head.

"Grief, I've learned is really just love. It's all the love you want to give, but cannot fill of the suspend love gathers in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go in the hollow." - James Andersen

Thanks Helena. I find it so difficult to find the words to describe what I'm feeling, these poems do say it so well.

I have no aversion to grief
    Because our tears
    Honor our years
    Our belief - nay, knowledge
    In the power
    Of love
    To deny the pain
    Would dishonor
    How we sang
    In the rain
    Would wilt the flower
    Discredit the power
    Of the
    Mourning dove

Thank you fur sharing Lou. Music heals. As I age (Be 88 in November my eyesight is going downhill, so it's difficult to type.
I played all the brass instruments, but as I got older I became a concert prom0ter. I met a lot of wonderful musicians and many great pe0ple on the periphery of the industry. I have been blessed.
