B, that's nice to post Center for Loss's daily reflection for those who are not on it. I would, but don't know how to do it since I'm on a desktop. Thanks, K

    Jus a thought

"Not everything needs to be about healing, betterment, growth, and evolution. Healing is also letting yourself just live. Noticing sweet connections. Making a warm cup of something delicious on a Friday morning. Reading a nourishing book. Spending time in a garden. Going on day trips and putting flowers on the table with breakfast. Wearing your favourity outfit to the grocery store. Being present for the smallest moments, the tiny interactios that make you feel human, the microexperiences of the day to day that make you feel alive. Playing music in your space to create an atmosphere. Phone chats with loved ones. Visiting neighborhoods that bring back nostalgia and thick memories of goodness. Hanging art. Thrift store visits and forest walks and long drives, just because. Pausing before scrolling Creating for the sake of creating. Getting extra rest because it feels good. Hugging longer, staying longer, lingering in moments that feel whole. The obsession with growth and healing often keeps us from actually living, when living fully is the whole entire point. ay we remember this when "healing" feels like it's becoming a barrier and a point of stress instead of an opening to full living your life"

A poem by Henry Scott-Holland (1847-1918) "Death the King of Terrors"

    Death is nothing at all.
    It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
    Nothing has happened.

Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched,
    unchanged
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.

Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we
    enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a
    shadow upon it.

Life means all the it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
    somewhere very near,
    just round the corner.

    All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet
    again!

Dear warrior friends, todays poem is about how as children we really have no idea about life. We're lost in that innocence, but as we grow older, we learn. Sometimes we long to go back to the innocent time.

When I was young on rainy days,
Alone on my front porch I'd play,
I'd lose myself in another time
That I could create with my toys and my mind.

    Tomorrow never mattered to me.
For that was where I would always be.
There would be no hurt, no pain, no tears,
There were no worries; there was nothing to fear.

But as I grew up and everything changed,
I realized that life was no easy game.
You lived by the rules that the outside world made,
And that feeling of safety would ultimately fade.

You walked a fine line as you faced every day.
Filled with constant surprises as you went on your way.
And your life could change in the blink of an eye.
And failure could come no matter how hard you tried.

You would fight many battles, as you tarried along,
Sometimes you'd be right, but more times you'd hate,
So many people you'd love and you'd hate,
But you had to keep going because life wouldn't wait.

And lost in that mess that you'd make every day
And behind all those senseless and stupid mistakes
Would be moments so splendid, so perfect and fine,
You would wish that they all could be frozen in time.

Cherished moments with family, the fulfillment of dreams,
Those brief special moments, and the boring routines,
The excitement of learning just who you could be,
And finding that happiness was not guaranteed.

Discovering, with relief, your niche in this world,
Achieving so much but still wanting more.
Through births and some losses, you'd survive on just hope,
Always searching for ways to escape and to cope.

And then there'd be love to nourish your heart,
And sadness and tears when that love fell apart.
You would go through the stages of life as they came.
You would grow up and grow old and constantly change.

You'd see beautiful things in this exceptional world,
The wonder and power of nature unfurled.
You would witness the kindness of our own human race.
But also the destruction and chaos we make.

Indeed as a child I had no real clue
About what was coming and what I'd go through.
And although I do miss that innocent peace,
I treasure each moment that brought me to me.

But still when it's dark and rainy sometimes,
My cozy front porch will come gently to mind.
And I'll long for a chance to just steal away
And curl up on that porch with my toys and just play.

    And if I go,
    while you're still here ..
Know that I live on ,
    Vibrating to a different measure
    Behind a thin veil you
    cannot see through.
    You will not see me,
    So you must have faith.
I wait for the time when
    we can soar together again,
    Both aware of each other.
    Until then ,
live your life to the fullest
    And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart ,
    …I will be there .

To everyone who has submitted a grief quote, a poem, or who has responded to one,

You have given me so much to think about..., have made me feel a little less alone..., a little less lonely..., have made me feel "normal," in this anything but "normal" existence we've been thrown into.

TGW, our GIC "family" is the absolute best!!!, TUTTAM!!!, TUTTAM!!! (a second time for added emphasis!!!)

THANK YOU!!! for being you... For always being here to offer support/advice, judgement free, to share stories, to "listen," to give me a virtual shoulder to lean on, and for becoming such an important part of my life. I've missed all of you, and hope to be able to "visit," a little more often (soon.)

As always, sending you lots of hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

This isn't exactly a quote, it's an image that reflects my mood. We always hear about mood being influenced by the weather, but it seems the other way round here, MY mood is influencing the weather!
    Yet another storm approaching!
