It really struck me as well, Karen. I read it often.
How are the tomatoes? We just had a few days of 100* temps so I expected to loose some blossoms but they weathered it well.~B

I planted one cherry tomato in a large pot on my deck and it's growing like crazy. A few green tomatoes and lots of flowers. Last year I planted a patio tomato called Early Girl and it didn't do well. I think the extreme heat last year got to it even though I covered it from the beating sun.

I sent your quote on to my family and two friends who lost their spouse. I really endorse it. Thanks again.

    What variety did you plant?

Last year I had 3, this year I have 7!
There are grape tomatoes, romas, slicer, paste and a patio variety that lost it’s tag but is doing great.
They all have real names of course….
but it’s hot out, the puppy is napping and I’m tucked back in the bedroom rocking in Kenn’s chair.
Gardening is really emotional for me this year, I feel at home, the physical labor feels good, but also reluctance and homesick- he’s not here to share it with so there’s a void or something. Not sure it makes sense but that’s the feeling.

Yes, B it makes sense. Things will change as the months go by with you. It's not been that long for you, Trust.

    My Personal Quest

For most of my life, I've been on a quest
To discover just who I might be,
    Earnestly searching, day after day,
    So desperate to recognize me.

I've felt moments of utter fulfillment
And moments I couldn't go on,
But I knew for the sake of my heart and my soul,
To succeed, I would have to be strong.

But the people around me seemed so lost themselves
That I feared I might be on my own.
But then there'd be someone who would reach out and help
And remind me I wasn't alone.

I've wanted so much to be happy,
To know what it was to feel peace,
And I thought if I finally felt sure of myself,
Then the pain and the struggles would cease,

    But I've learned that this journey is endless;
The discoveries are fresh every day,
And no matter how much I might know of myself,
They'll be times I will still lose my way.

And as I've grown older, I truly believe
I may never know all I can be.
But the answers are not waiting out in the world
But have always laid right inside me

We're all on this quest to discover ourselves,
Together but through our own ways,
Overcoming whatever might get in our paths,
So we can feel better someday.

But always remember not to stray far
From what matters and what's really true.
In this life you don't have to be perfect.
In the end, you just have to be you.

I don't have quotes, for now I only can share poems that help me to heal and continue going forward....

Before I became strong, I knew what it was like
    To be weak,
How difficult it is to love yourself,
To find the wholeness that you seek.

    Before I knew the light,
I have had my fair share of darkness, too,
Where my world fell into a hopelessness
And I didn't know how to get through.

For I have known the tears it takes,
The courage to stand up again,
When you are broken down and bruised
And you know nothing but the pain

    You forget to appreciate love,
If you havent't seen the hate,
Till you forget the meaning of smile and laughter,
And you heart is left abate.

I have known the strength and courage
It requires to get it right,
To face the things that hold you down
And hold your head up and fight.

Before I was who I am now,
I was someone I didn't want to be be.
I was lost, battered, and defeated,
Before I knew how to be me!

Six months since Geoff left this universe and I wrote him a poem

My memories are sacred of the you I used to know.
I remember all the places where you and I would go.

Time has made me older, and life has made me old.
My bones are thin and brittle, my body feels the cold.

Days when I was younger and warmer in the sun,
Days when you were with me, I was the chosen one

Years went rolling past us, but I lost you along the way.
I would give all my tomorrows for just one yesterday

A poem by Edgar Guest, American Poet (1881-1959)

    KEEP GOING

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must-but don't quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a failure turns about
    When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow-
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out-
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
    It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.
