    Ms.Hum, I cried unexpectedly when I read
that you had a "bad relapse of crying and
couldn't stop". Your face to face with the
noble buck, was very moving. It reminded
me of a movie that Linda & I saw in a
theater . It was called "The Queen", about
    Queen Elizabeth, starring Helen Mirren.
There is a scene, which may, or may not,
have happened, when the Queen, on her
horse , came up close to a majestic buck,
and they stood still, & stared at each other,
    too. Lobsterman Lou

Georgester, Remember what I said to Emily there is no negativism here so you don't have to apologize for being negative. Anyway, negativism is an expression of your feelings as I see it. Ms Hum!

Ms. Hum ( it makes me smile to call you
that, bc you got a kick out of it), I cried
again when you said you saved Jack's
hat & slippers. I knew about the hat &
his favorite whiskey ,but I didn't know about his slippers. He was a true Western
hero, a veteran, a brave man, and most
importantly, your good, loving man. Lou

I have to say this is one of my worse days. I was cleaning up paperwork, filing and in general shredding non important documents and I came across this note I wrote to Tom in 2017. I am not usually so open with people. Probably the only time I will share this part of my heart. I can't stop crying.
    Dear Tommy,
You hold my heart in your hand, and are my love.
Keep me close and share each day.
We have a special bond which stays forever and makes an endless love.
How, why, is the question one with no answer except it was meant to be.
Each day with you is a memory day, one which will live into eternity.
Sitting, standing, eating, walking, sleeping, loving we are together.
    My life is yours
    Love you,
    Janiceann

Janiceanne, thank you for sharing your
private, tender note to Tom. I know it
was gutwrenching for you to find it. I had
to destroy all the fun greeting cards, for
    birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries
which Linda & I gave each other. We
preferred the funny ones with couples
from the animal kingdom, like dogs and
and bears, but I couldn't bear to look at
them without sobbing. I did save our
wedding photos, and hid them in my
closet, but can't look at them without
crying. Looks like several Grief Warriors,
besides you & me, are crying today.
Most parts of the country have dreary
winter weather. It is also a somber
holiday for Martin Luther King, Jr.,
who was assassinated at 39. I cry at his
premonition of his death, when he cited
Moses, saying he might not make it the
    Promised Land. Lou

Karen, I have been thinking about the big buck all day knowing Jack is there to comfort you and be near you through the storm. The Old Stag in the book Bambi by Felix Salten was the behind the scenes hero who shared his knowledge about survival with Bambi. Once Bambi was shot and severely wounded by a hunter who was tracking him down. The Old Stag commanded Bambi to get up and led Bambi away from danger to a safe thicket. Bambi slowly healed and would only come out at night swaying on weak knees to eat. The Old Stag was always close by and stayed with Bambi until he healed. I find strength and comfort in the legend and your sighting of the Old Stag. Gary

Thank you, great story. If buck comes again I'll call him Old Stag and stay with me until I heal. Hum!

I was touched reading about your close encounter, Karen. They are such beautiful, noble-looking animals with so many legendary and spiritual meanings within different cultures all over the world. One I remember is that they represent vital renovation and also a connection between terrestrial with the supernatural, their antlers resembling branches of a tree reaching out to the sky, as if calling out.
