Robin and Lou, I'm glad for you both that you are beginning to see the first signs of Spring. We are unfortunately going through our coldest week this Winter so far, freezing temperatures and North winds blowing. I can't go for my nature therapy walks, but I'm getting lots of exercise going backwards and forwards outside to our shed to bring in stacks of firewood for our wood stove and fireplace. I often sit in my C's favourite armchair by the fireplace and I can't help but think back to when we first met and he took me to see this house (that his father had built and had given to him), we'd spend evenings by the fire, him playing the guitar and encouraging me to sing, as I was too shy at first.
Coming from a city like London, I had never even lit a real log fire before, I didn't have a clue. Now, I feel like I've lived here all my life, I've transferred my roots, having experienced "both sides of the coin", I do prefer the quiet peace and security of living here, instead of a busy, metropolitan city.
I agree with Robin, Lou, music is good for the soul, I think it's great therapy for you listening to live music. I've been neglecting my piano lately, due to my hybernation mode, but when I get back on there, I can actually feel the stress release as I hit those keys, singing out loud. I've watched lots of biographical movies about famous musicians and most of them have in common the fact that they were driven into this passion by their strong desire to let out their sufferings, for one reason or another. The only way to express into words what they wanted to say to the world, and what they were feeling, was through music.
Wishing you all warmer, sunnier days, especially for our minds.
    Rose.

La Rose, at the risk of sounding creepy, I
feel that you, DEB, Karen ( Ms. Hum),
Bernadine, Robin ( Summer) are my
"other soulmates". If I ever meet another
woman, I'd want her to be as bright, as
funny, with a love of music & art, as Linda
was, and like all of you. You mentioned
that your son has manic depression, as do
    I. As you know, I chose Van Gogh for my
user name, bc he was a tortured soul, with
manic depression, also. A big difference
is that he and other famous painters and
musicians didn't have the benefits of
    modern medication, to stabilize their
mood swings. My passion is writing, which
comes naturally, and is not affected by
my medications. Though I don't play an
instrument, except for my tamborine, in
a local drum circle, I appreciate music. Lou

    Bro Lombardo Da V
Bro Lombardo Da Vinci, hope you feel
less tired & crabby tomorrow. Perhaps, if
you feel like it, you can show us the
bright colors of your artwork, to brighten
our gray, winter days--- on Wed Art
    Therapy day ! Lobster Lousterino

BroGeo, as my younger friends say, " no
worries", a new version of " no problem"---
both dismissive. I'll just say that I understand & empathize. No pressure
from me about Wed Art Therapy. I wish I
could send my warm, 50 degree, sunny
weather to you, as DEB always says. It
lifted my spirits, as I walked outside, after
my usual morning cry for Linda. Pardon
me while I kick Mr. Grief , as Ms. Hum
    calls him...Lobsterino

Thank you so much, for brightening my
day with your bright colors, even though
they didn't match your sad & "crabby"
    mood. Question, Lombardo: does the
    bottom picture depict a man?

I don't depict anything, since they are abstract one can find whatever they want in the lines and shapes and colors.

Monsieur Da Vinci. master of modern art,
thank you for explaining that to a layman
like me. I don't know much about that type
of art, but I vaguely recall visiting
the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)
on a trip to NYC. I also remember seeing a
movie about Jackson Pollack, played by
Ed Harris. The Godfather of Ma.

I just don't like drawing and depicting representational things. I'm too much of a perfectionist and that kind of art bores me.

I understand. My favorite painter was
Van Gogh, for his unique colors of flowers
in his countryside, portraits of the people in his village, and honest self portraits,
including the one with his bandaged ear,
which he had cut, in a rage. Van Lou

Hi George, your art work is BEAUTIFUL. THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
Years ago I cut my own woods for wall clocks. Did paintings
of Thomas Kinkade English flower gardens and country cottages
on them. I tried to get back into it, ended up giving all my paints,
    Brushes, supplies to our grandaughter.
Sending hug to you and all our GW “Family”.
    Blessings, Patti

    George,

In spite of not feeling good about anything, you brightened my day with some more of your art. I think I can safely say for all of us, that it's always the very best kind of surprise, when we "visit" and find that you've shared some more of your wonderful creations with us.

I'm trying to catch up, at least on this one thread, and am so sorry to hear that you're struggling lots lately... It SUCKS!!!, TUTTAM!!! Although I've been MIA, and will continue to be mostly MIA for now, I think about you, about all of our GIC "family" often... Everyone is always included in my daily prayers...

I hope since you wrote this your day has improved, but if not, the one thing I know for sure, is that things are always subject to change. Spring is just around the corner, waiting to bathe us in sunshine... Fresh air and sunshine are some of the best ways I know to kick the F*CK!!! out of Mr. G. Hang in there...

As always, sending lots of hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace, all the way from TUTTAMVILLE. Debster

    Patti,

It's way beyond wonderful to "see" you "visiting our GIC "family!!!" I've been mostly MIA lately, and today is my first day "visiting" again. First George shared some more of his beautiful art with us, and now, you're here too. Life has just gotten much better...

I hope you and JayCee are doing as well as can be expected, in this new, but unwelcome existence, all of us have been tossed into.

As always, sending you and JayCee lots of hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB

    Kat,

I've been mostly MIA lately, and am so glad to see that so many of my friends, have already welcomed you into our "GIC" family. Although getting here very late, words seem so shallow at times, now being one of them, I want you to know how very sorry I am that your soulmate, the one true love of your life, CJ, has passed away. It SUCKS!!! (I seem to be stuck on SUCKS!!!)

My husband, Bob, died almost 22 months ago. He was sick for many years, but it wasn't until the beginning of 2018, that I had to become his full time caregiver. By the time he passed away, he had a specialist for just about every body part. It was the very hardest job I've ever had to do, but would gladly do it all over again, if I could.

My friends have already said so much, I can't think of anything to add, but just want to welcome you into our "family" too. I'm so sorry you had to find us, but so glad you did. I'm so happy you're sticking around, giving us the chance to get to "know" you, and you the chance to "get" to know us.

This is an amazing site. I doubt I would have gotten this far, in this way beyond miserable journey, for lack of a better word, if it wasn't for all the support, advice, virtual hugs, and love, I've received, and continue to receive, from our GIC "family."

This is a judgement free zone. You can take our advice, or ditch it, we'll be here for you, to support you every step of the way, no matter what you do. I hope this will become your safe place, as it has become for me. A place where you can come whenever you're feeling over the top sad, lonely, need to "talk," or are in need of a virtual hug.

I want to end this on a positive note. In time, if you do all the hard work grieving forces us to do, life will get better. Although it can NEVER!!! be the same, life will become a combination of happy and sad, smiles mixed with tears, as Robin, one of my GIC friends, explained it to me, to all of us...

Sending you lots of hugs and love, wishing you peace, all of us peace. DEB
