I am not a widower, however, I am dating a woman whose husband died. She has a tween daughter who thought her dad hung the moon and he treated her like a princess. He died suddenly and year and a half ago and it has turned her world upside down. Her mother and I have been dating for a several months. The daughter says she hates me, but at times does things with me or wants me to help her. However, whenever she has her fill with me, she is back to hating me. I really want her to know that I care about her and would do anything for her. I am looking for advice as to what I need to do or not do. Thank you.

Be patient. Even without her grief she would be ambivalent about any man her mom dated. Kids always dream of having their family intact again. Give it lots of time.
