Has anyone experienced delayed grieving? My mom died +20yrs ago from Leukemia and my brother died +2yrs ago from brain cancer. I recently retired from nursing career and am volunteering as a school nurse now. I have been having vivid flashbacks of my mom & brother. I wake up with intense sadness and feel the heaviness in my chest. I do see a psychiatrist. What has been your experience?

I lost my mother 30+ yrs ago; my father 15+ yrs ago and my sister almost 1 yr ago. I, too, wake up with intense sadness and a heavy heart with the loss of my sister but there are times that I still feel the pain of losing both my parents too. I don't think the grief goes away ... one just learns to live with it the best you can.
