The lost of my older brother / my bestfriend

Hi guys, I’m new here. My older brother passed away april 27,2024 from an over dose that sent him into cardiac arrest. I’m really struggling as he was my first best friend , we were always there for each other through the good and the bad. I know he wouldn’t want me to be so down and out but I’m stuck and can’t move on. I feel guilty for living life and him not getting to continue his. This really mentally messed me up and I really don’t know what to do at this point. I’ve never felt this much pain

 

I am sorry for your loss, Jillianmarie. Yes it is so difficult after the loss of someone you loved and depended upon. Someone said to me that this would be the hardest thing I will face in life, that there couldn't be anything harder to happen in my life. I agree. It is so hard to adjust to your new circumstances. I completely understand. Our mind doesn't even want to accept it. I found myself waiting for my son's car to pull in the driveway.
The death of someone we were so close to and had such love for, is tremendously painful. I got through it by waiting for God to help me. I knew He would and He did, but this road of grief is so bad, we can't believe it happened to us. It must be a bad dream. The nightmare doesn't happen at night. It is the daytime that seems a nightmare for us.
Lean on God. Tell Him how much you are struggling and ask Him to help. He is always available to carry us through these horrible things that happen until we can at least start to function again.
