Lost my husband 17 months ago. It’s really difficult. I have a therapist. I am starting EMDR therapy. I have joined in person suicide support groups and in person bereavement groups for widows. Reading books like “Understanding Your Suicide Loss and the journal helps. Basically you have to take care of yourself because no one else knows how.
Hi Debora. I am sorry for your loss. You are right about taking care of yourself because no one else knows how-except God. God is an ever present help in the time of trouble. He understands our grief because He lost His good friend Lazarus. Other people can just not understand the depth of the pain and the feeling of isolation a suicide brings to the survivor. It's not that they don't want to help, but they just can't understand if they have not been through an experience like yours.
