How much can a person endure

My husband died less than a month ago and each day has been fraught with anxiety, fear and people hounding me to fill out more stupid forms. Why can’t there be a grace period to let people grieve in peace ? Society and obligations and well meaning people just push push push to keep moving, keep moving. No one seems to care that someone has died and someone else is left behind.
How much can a person endure before cracking?

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my husband on September 29th. I know it's so much change at one time. You just want the world to stop so you can catch up and catch your breath. Take things in our own time. Listen to yourself and take care of yourself.

Thank you... and I am sorry that you lost yours as well. It's a shock that keeps reverberating over and over. I hope you are doing well and have support. I try to limit myself to one "out of my comfort zone " task per day but even that feels too much. I just want to crawl in a cubby hole. Hugs to you.

The hours and days after my wife passed away was also filled with "sign here" and calls to make and so much to do, all while bawling in between and wishing death on my own self and wandering around aimlessly sometimes. You are right, it would be a great thing for the world to back off and have sympathy, but it seems devoid of any sympathy or love these days.
I see what I am going through and I do take some solace that my wife did not have to deal with this cold world upon my death, I am glad I am able to keep all of her wishes and promises I made to her while also being (barely) strong enough to take the world's arrows too.
That part of it gives me a little bit of peace, as absurd as it seems.
I wish you the best, it is so damn tough.
